New Year’s 2013 – Vancouver BC

We spent New Year’s in Vancouver this year. Originally, we had tickets on Amtrak, but the rain had taken out the tracks. So we ended up driving the M—always the cool way to travel.

We spent the day walking around town, in Gastown….

… and then into Chinatown, which was full of colors and life.

Even in the middle of winter, this part of town was full of local folks shopping and exploring the streets. There was so much color here – dried shrimp and other sea vittles.

…and dried fungi.

These kids were having so much fun, each taking their turn to show of their talant.

I think we both enjoyed Vancouver a bit more in the summer time, but it’s such a beautiful city.
